✅ That means 67% do have access to at least basic drinking water, but not necessarily safely managed or always available.

Around 779 million people in Africa do not have access to basic sanitation services.
About 208 million people rely on surface water sources like rivers, ponds, or lakes — which are often unsafe due to contamination.
As of 2023/2024, approximately 418 million people in Africa lack access to safe drinking water, according to UNICEF and the World Health Organization (WHO). That means about 1 in 3 people on the continent does not have reliable access to clean water.
Our Water Access Project builds clean water tanks in African communities, providing safe, reliable water and improving daily life through sustainable solutions.
